New Storyline!

I have decided on a new storyline for my short film. I have decided that it is going to be set in a town, around Christmas time.

The story is about a man named Thomas, he is homeless and lives a rough life after his turbulent childhood, where he was abused by his parents and was eventually moved from children's home to children's home. The audience will see that Thomas is suicidal and keeps having flash backs to his abusive childhood. He is a guitarist and uses his guitar to try and make some money, and we see several people pass by not caring about his situation. 

Eventually, we see a girl (Hope) come up to Thomas a changes his life by giving him her wages, which Thomas uses to buy food and drink for himself. On his way out he sees an advert for auditions for a lead guitarist on the street. He auditions and gets the job. The last shot is him performing in a band or solo in front of lots of people.

Audience Feedback

Yesterday afternoon I showed my short film to a small focus group and asked them to fill in feedback forms with ratings out of five and comments. Here is an overview of all the marks I got for my feedback. One of the main criticisms of my Short Film was that the music was too repetitive. After receiving this feedback I went back to my short film and listened closely to the music. However, I have decided to keep the music as it does reflect the repetitiveness of my characters life and does effectively contrast to the atmosphere of the short film as a whole. Also, most audience members also said how the little amount of colour grading was effective as it made it more realistic and reflected the mood of the short film. They said that lots of colour grading would have ruined the message of the short film as a whole. Knole House Trip

On Friday the 30th of June 2017, we went to visit Knole House in Kent. Knole house is the home of Vita Sackville-west and the house where Virginia Woolf visited. We had a guided tour of the house, however, it took us a while to realise that the whole tour was a performance and was telling us about views on gender equality as well as telling the story of Orlando, based of Virginia Woolf's novel. The tour was based on a scientific investigation, where the forensic scientists were trying to de-contaminate the site in order to find out clues into Orlando's disappearance and also. work out the space-time continuum. On the tour we met, Greek Gods, Shakespearean actors, Georgian scientists, Vita Sackville-west and eventually Virginia Woolf herself.
